Welcome to Lynne's BIG SWIM page!
Hello and welcome to my BIG SWIM fundraising page. I am back for my second year of this event and excited to do it all over again.
Last year I learned how special Brigadoon Village is to so many people. I was able to visit the camp and see why it is such an amazing getaway for kids with health conditions. It costs about $1700 to send a child to camp and I'm proud to say my supporters supported more than three kids!!!! I was blown away by the response.
This year I'd love to do the same, while also chasing my dream to swim from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island. Last year, despite beautiful weather, the wind conditions thwarted that goal, and the organizers rerouted us up the coast of New Brunswick. The water was incredibly rough and it did feel like a BIG SWIM, but this year I'm keen to finish on PEI. Fingers crossed for calmer waters.
I have been a competitive swimmer for since I was nine years old with the Dartmouth Crusaders, the Yarmouth Whitecaps, Dalhousie Tigers and a handful of masters teams. After having kids, I was out of the water for a little over a decade but have been back at it for a few years now.
I've been training consistently through the year and I am about to start increasing my weekly long swim. I'll be keeping everyone up to date on training progress and challenges on Instagram and Facebook.
Thanks everyone!
