Swimming The Northumberland Strait For Charity
Hey there, Camren here! I'm excited to share a bit about myself and the mission I've embarked upon.
I am an 18-year-old IB student graduating from Charlottetown Rural High School this year.
I spend most of my free time either doing school work or achieving goals in the pool.
My competitive swimming journey has connected me to a world of unique ways I can challenge myself. From the 200 fly to the 1500 free, the opportunities for a challenge seemed endless. When I was introduced to open-water swimming my mind was blown with excitement to see all the new challenging swims I can complete.
Thus far, I have accomplished a 3km open water swim at the Canada Games and a 5km open water swim at the Atlantic Cup which I placed 3rd in.
This July, I will be participating in the BIG SWIM (swimming across the Northumberland Strait) which is a 15 km swim (roughly). This is the longest swim I have challenged myself to complete and it is in support of Brigadoon Village.
Brigadoon Village passionately transforms the lives of Atlantic Canadian children and youth living with health conditions and other life challenges to help them reach their full potential through experiential learning, meaningful connections, and exceptional fun. They deliver year-round camp programming that has the potential to be life-changing to many people.
By donating you will not only be supporting my swimming journey, but also Brigadoon Village and the dreams of many children and families in Canada.
